Sources first

Lir combines a curated maritime knowledge base with live and file-backed federal source data where those feeds are available. The answer UI keeps the basis visible: a chart, notice, tide, water level, or vessel assumption is named rather than implied.

Source inventory: NOAA for charts, Coast Pilot, tides, currents, and weather; USCG for Local Notices to Mariners and navigation information; USACE for locks, dams, and river conditions; USGS for river gauges; and NWS for marine forecasts. Availability depends on the water and the question.

Source-aware by default. A source-qualified figure is not a guarantee that conditions have not changed. Always compare the answer with current official material before acting on it.
